Chair Makeover

I’m currently working on a little makeover. I bought these chairs for my living room. They are my first furniture purchase off of eBay. Have you ever purchased something large from eBay? Most furniture sellers offer pretty affordable shipping to your nearest Greyhound station. For about $30 more I opted for the option of having the chairs delivered to my home. The convenience was worth the extra money for me. Dragging my kids to the Philadelphia Greyhound station was not worth the hassle!
Anyway, this morning I dropped the chairs off at the furniture painter. He is going to paint them white, with a glossy finish. After that I will have the reupholstery work done. I’m still debating fabrics. I am thinking something with a geometrical pattern in chartreuse or aqua blue, or even navy. I’d also like to get a cute patterned pillow to lean against the back seat. I love the idea of mixing another pattern/bright color. (orange, blue, purple??) decisions, decisions…

Living Room Purchases

I made the drive up to Morristown NJ this morning (about 1.5 hours!) to check out some chairs that I’ve had my eye on. Lee Dowdy Antiques has some amazing things & affordable prices. I ended up purchasing the 2 pink chairs ($399 for both) & on my way out I saw these AMAZING mirrors that I had to purchase (for $125 each I could not resist!)
I cannot wait to get the mirrors hung. I am hoping to put them on a wall near the back entrance right by the powder room. What do you think? Are you willing to spend more on one of a kind pieces/antiques?
Louis Style Chairs
Here are a few pieces that I am thinking about for the dining room. I am pretty focused on chairs at the moment. I’ve decided on a dark color upholstered dining chair. I think it will be a nice contrast to the white/grey walls plus spills/dirt will be less noticeable. I’m hoping to find a louis style chair in purple or black. & maybe louis style arm chairs at the heads of the table? Not quite sure yet!
I threw in a brass shelf and beautiful bench that I would love in my living room. I could browse eBay for hours!
Craigslist Brass Coffee Table

I’ve been on the hunt for a brass coffee table or brass end table. There were about 4 or 5 tables that I loved from Neiman Marcus…but they were WAYYYY out of my price range ($500 +). I’m currently drawn to pieces with interesting geometric frames like this & this.
So, a few days ago I went to check out this 3 ft x 3 ft coffee table a few towns away. The sweet older couple offered it to me for $50 which I could not turn down! The husband even helped me load it into my car.
I am hoping to use it in my new living room…to be continued…
Cane Chair Makeover

WOW, I’ve always loved the look of painted cane chairs, but who would have thought that this yellow would look so great? I love a good Craigslist find- especially for $30! BTW, I’ve been seeing so much great furniture on Craigslist lately…soooo tempting.

Craigslist chair find

do you ever browse Craigslist for interesting furniture? most of the stuff on there is overpriced JUNK (in my opinion), but if you browse often enough you will find some interesting pieces. i LOVE these mahogany chairs. i think they would look great on the ends of a long, wooden rectangular table. (maybe even mixed with my new bertoia style chairs ($150 for both)
vintage decor inspiration

Casa Chaucha is one of my favorite places to go for vintage decor inspiration. they feature interesting apartments filled with all kinds of treasures that look like they’ve been picked up from flea markets. this particular apartment is super rad. it is located in Berlin (which makes it even more awesome!) i really love that bedroom armoire and the office set up. i’d like to sneak in there and page through all of those books
new chandelier

i finally decided on the jupiter chandelier and it has arrived. here were a few other light fixtures i was debating for awhile. i wanted to hang it this weekend, but i am STILL not done with the craigslist table. it got cold fast and i am still working on paint coat #3.
this is a big new year goal for me…an actual table and chandelier in my dining room
)
new dining room light

i’m looking for a new light to go in our dining room. here is the table (from craigslist)… i would like to add something a tad modern to hang over it. i am still undecided with the chairs. the table was $50 plus paint and i want to keep the project CHEAP! i would love a modern chair but i cannot find anything in my budget so i am thinking about finding chairs on Craigslist or Goodwill to mix with it.
the Jupiter Chandelier is 20% off at Z Gallerie and i think it is my favorite. i have a 10% off coupon at Pottery Barn and a 20% off coupon at West Elm. HMMMM….i need to sleep on this!

craigslist side tables/nightstands

i was browsing craigslist the other day and i spotted these adorable nightstands. i think they would be perfect when i decorate my daughter’s “big girl” room. although she won’t be transitioning out of her crib for at least a year. (price was $250 for both)
