Succulents Planted

Harper and I just got around to planting some succulents in our new Claude Planter. (BTW, it is on sale for $7.99 at West Elm!)

We put my ancient ALOE plant in the center. This plant is seriously impossible to kill. It sat on a sunny window ledge all summer. (I had forgotten that I had placed it there in June.) The plant was so overgrown and also grew 2 little baby aloe plants! We trimmed it down a lot before planting.

We also bought a cute yellow flowering cactus + 2 new succulent plants for the new planter. All of these plants are pretty much maintenance free. Now all that we need is a sunny window!

P.S. $8 planter + $10 for cactus & succulents. & recycled dirt from backyard!

Flowers Chic and Cheap

My house comes alive as long as there are colorful bouquets and plants around. I don’t like to spend a lot of money, so I tend to purchase plants vs bouquets (they last waaay longer!)

Carlos Motas Flowers Chic and Cheap caught my eye this morning. When I don’t have a pretty bouquet on my coffee table, I’ll stack this book on top!

Blooming!

I woke up this morning and found my pink hydrangea plant blooming. I had to plant one in an indoor pot this spring. They are so bright and cheerful– & last way longer than a hydrangea bouquet in a vase!

Roses & new mirror for office

Rex & I stopped at produce junction this morning (one of my FAVORITE places). One of these days I will have to bring my camara with me. Anyway, they have beautiful (& CHEAP) flowers and plants as well as a farmers market. I picked up 2 bunches of roses for $12 total. I just finished a little arrangement for my office. I am hoping some new decor and lots of fresh flowers help to inspire me to get back to work.

I also hung a new brass looking mirror that I purchased from One Kings Lane (only $50!) I think it looks much better than the mirror i had previously hug there. I am waiting on a small brass table/bar cart to arrive that will go along the wall under the mirror and will help to hide all of the cable cords.

Summer Wreath

I decided that it was time to take down my winter wreath yesterday. I have one of those white feather wreaths and I love it for winter.

I was googling wreaths to find some pretty ideas for spring and summer and found this AMAZING succulent wreath. After some digging, I found the ENTIRE DIY on Prudent Baby. Ahhh, I am so excited… how fun!

tiny air plants

i am purchasing a few air plants for my window ledges. i found these darling mini plants at Tortoise Loves Donkey. i want them all- but i think i am going to purchase the Cup O’ Air Plant- too cute!

p.s. An epiphyte is a plant that grows upon another plant (such as a tree) non-parasitically or sometimes upon some other object (such as a building or a telegraph wire), derives its moisture and nutrients from the air and rain and sometimes from debris accumulating around it, and is found in the temperate zone (as many mosses, liverworts, lichens and algae) and in the tropics (as many ferns, cacti, orchids, and bromeliads) – also called AIR PLANTS. Collapsible Vases

The Hope Forever Blossoming vase, portable and made of tough but lightweight vinyl, is ideal for entertaining outdoors. It folds up for easy transport but maintains its shape when filled with water, and can hold up to eight flowers.
