my DIY Christmas Tree Skirt

remember the fabric that i purchased?:

i bought 2 yards but it turned out to be way too much. i decided to make a 48 by 48 inch tree skirt since our tree is not huge.

folded over twice (so you have a square shape):

then using a tape measure draw marks at 24 inches:

cut cut cut! and then draw an arc and cut this out:

open it up and you have a tree skirt! cut a straight line anywhere and hem edges if you wish:

TADA:

this cost me $15.99 and i still have a bunch of left over fabric. (my inspiration skirt was at West Elm for over $55!)

ps…after seeing these photos i am definitely making it a priority to paint the brass stripes of the fireplace! YUCK!!

Christmas Tree is up!

i got the tree up today…tomorrow we will decorate! i am doing colored lights this year because i think it will be more fun for the kids. Harper is practicing her colors and will be so excited to see it all lit up!

newsprint tree from West Elm

i bought this cute tree from West Elm last week. it is like paper mache with newsprint and has bendable branches! i am going to pick up a simple string of white lights from Target tomorrow to hang on it for the holidays.
