How to Decorate with Abstract Art

I’ve been doing some serious browsing… I’m searching for a few pieces of abstract art for my home. My living room & dining room both need something xtra large. I’m thinking a bold painting on canvas would be perfect for each room.

So, I went to the internet to get some answers. I didn’t really know the “rules” of decorating with abstract art. Do pieces near each other have to match/have similar colors? do designs have to “go together?” etc, etc.

I found this lovely Norwegian home on interiormagasinet.hegnar.no and it was just what I needed to see. They’ve used large abstract canvases in pretty much every room. All of the colors/designs just WORK! Almost like an art gallery.

After seeing this I am inspired and ready to start looking. Do you have abstract paintings in your home?
