I was browsing through stylist, Rita Konig’s portfolio and found some of her work to have one thing in common, groupings of pictures.  I’ve seen this trend getting really popular lately too.  I like all the collections of small photos grouped together to make one big art piece.  It’s less costly than a large painting and so much more interesting to me.  Each picture tells a story and can go on for hours as conversation piece at a house party.  And, how about those shoes coming out of the fireplace! Definitely a stylist thing, but I can see it working at a cool girl’s pad.

I saw this image from a house tour on apartment therapy.  I thought the idea was so cool! A collection of Polaroids and small photos in a bowl on the coolest side table I’ve ever seen! I’m definitely doing this for my eclectic home.  It’s effortlessly chic!  -ijin

Swedish Home

I saw this home on one of my favorites sites It is actually a swedish brokerage site, but has so much amazing decor inspiration. The beautiful homes they show are for sale in Stockholm (& surrounding areas). They are meticulously decorated and professionally photographed.

This particular home is one of my favorites. I bookmarked it as a good example of how to use bold artwork in multiple areas in your home. I am in awe of all of the beautiful painings. My favorite piece of artwork in the home is the one above the salmon colored sofa.

Brook Shields’s Manhattan Home

I just got my Architectural Digest in the mail and was blown away by the cover and beautiful photographs of Brook Shields’s Manhattan Brownstown. It is uber chic, definitely one of my favorites in a long time. The Architectural Digest website has a few images of her home if you haven’t seen it.

BTW, I love that Brook has 2 Caboche chandeliers above her kitchen table. (I have a fake “caboche” in my living room! see it here)

Inspired by Fashion

via J Crew Catalogue

Mint, Chartreuse, & Navy…with a pop of Red! This woman looks refreshed. & I think she would even if she were not standing next to the pool!

Today I’ve chosen her look as the inspiration for a cheery, COLORFUL living room. My FAVORITE piece is the mint bar cart. Oh, I want this in my home. The painting kind of ties everything together- isn’t it gorgeous? I’m also all about a bright, cozy blanket to cuddle up with. This one is pricey, but sometimes it is worth it to splurge on an amazing throw!

Naxos Greek Villa

It seems that I’m often posting homes with views of the sea. I guess it is because I find the ocean both calming and inspiring. It is always nice to daydream about a vacation home with a view so spectacular that I’d be counting down days to my vacation every year. Somewhere like this place would be perfect! Breakfast, lunch, & dinner would always be eaten outside. I’d bring stacks of magazines & books, and spend the day reading, writing & taking dips in the pool with my children. Just looking at these photos gives me a refreshed/calm feeling.

The home is located in the heart of the Aegean, on the south part of Naxos island, Greece. Something about traditional greek island homes (especially the narrow white stairways) is just so romantic!

Flush Mount Ceiling Lights

I’ve been wanting to replace our ugly entryway and hallway lights for years, & I am finally making an effort to do so. Because this is not our forever home (& we may be moving sooner vs. later), I am hesitant to spend over $150 on each light.

I really do not love flush mount ceiling lights in the entryway, but our ceiling is not high enough to pick out a cool pendant lamp or chandelier. My initial thought at the front door was to try the West Elm Contour Semi-Flush Fixture in White. It has a nice modern look for only $69. My only issue is that after taking some measurements, it might be too big for the space. We took a drive down to West Elm in Princeton over the weekend so that I could see it in person. Sooo frustrating –when we got there they said it was not carried in stores yet.  Next time, I’ll be sure to call first!

2 other options are the Northwestern 2.25″ surface mount fixture in polished nickel or Glomar
Odeon light in Brushed Nickel

What kind of ceiling fixtures are in your home? If you have a low ceiling entryway, did you stick with something simple or choose something with a bit of pizazz for the ceiling?

P.S. Find prices and links to all of these ceiling fixtures plus LOTS more on my Pinterest board, Flush Mount Light Fixtures
