Pink Accessories

polka-hearts.tumblr.com

There is just something about the color PINK! All that it takes is a simple pink accessory to cheer up your room. Books, flowers, a throw, or a pink chair…what is your favorite way to accessorize with pink? I am pretty partial to flowers. Peonies are always expensive so instead I pick up pink roses when they are on sale. I love to display them in my office!  I also have a pink velvet cushion on my desk chair.  (from Pier 1)

Inspired by Fashion

skull pillow, watercolor print, Mason Coffee Table, Robert Abbey Delta Baby Blue Lamp, Kartell Masters Chair

This mood board was inspired by the look of the woman you see below. Isn’t her purple/blue hair beautiful? Not sure who else could really pull off this look, but it certainly suits her! Skulls seem to be on EVERYTHING these days, and I am kind of loving this trend. One of my favorite skull home decor accessories is the Louis In Extremis Pillow. It comes in 9 colors…so easy to find one that will match your decor!

Whenever I think about decorating with cool colors, I think about cool textures as well. Concrete immediately comes to mind! The coffee table I’ve picked out is much more grey (& much less yellow) in person. It is absolutely stunning. (Crate & Barrel needs to run a sale!)

Designer San Francisco Rental

I am pretty obsessed with AirBNB- have you checked it out? I browse new listings almost every weekend. It is one of my guilty pleasures! We have no vacations planned anytime soon, but I LOVE the idea of staying in a personal space. …a flat in Paris or Berlin, or a designer home in San Francisco.

This particular San Francisco home is owned by an interior designer. I just love her style. Isn’t her living room sofa gorgeous? I’d love to have cup of mint tea in that light filled living room!

Putting Kid Decor to Bed!

They never want to go there when it’s time, but they certainly have opinions on what it should look like; it’s your children’s bedroom! Decorating a child’s bedroom can be frustrating when differences of opinion pop up, but there are some ways to make it enjoyable and cost effective. Here are ten ideas for tackling the bedding in your child’s bedroom!

For a cost effective option, consider basic bedding in a solid colour. Then, customize with stuffed animals or vinyl wall decals around the perimeter of the bed. This allows the flexibility of updating the style of the bedding by interchanging the accessories rather than buying new, costly bedspreads when your child’s tastes change.

Another idea takes the basic bedding idea and expands on it by using netting for the head of the bed or the entire bed. For girls, netting creates a princess feel and for boys, you can use camouflage netting instead. This creates a bed that feels like a hideout for your little one.

Some children adore a particular character or theme. Luckily for mom, there are many ways to cater to a child’s whim and have bedding from mattress, sheets, pillow cases and comforters in the character or theme of their choice and they can buy them online from harrycorry.com for bedding and sheets and for mattresses and pillows visit website

Memories can last a lifetime and there are ways to include memories into your child’s bedding. Use your child’s old t-shirts and sew together a bed spread that will remind them and you of when they were little.

Another way to include memories into a child’s bedding is by utilizing photographs. Photos can be scanned in high quality onto bedspreads or pillowcases and make a unique place for your child to sleep!

A classic theme for a little girl’s bedding is flowers. They can be bright and funky or sweet and sophisticated. Let your little one help pick out the kind of flowers. Then, stop at a flower shop and pick out a small bouquet of the real kind for the night stand!

4 Pretty Things

origami lampshade, painting, crochet pouf, vase

This morning I was inspired by the gorgeous woman in the photo below. Her bright orange & mint outfit makes her the perfect colorful accessory to the room. I was immediately on the hunt for a painting with orange and minty colors. I found this fabulous one by Claire Desjardins & picked out 3 pretty things to go with it.

Colorful Staircases

I am so intrigued by all of the beautifully painted staircases all over pinterest. I love the idea of a bright (or even NEON) paint color on the stairs in an old home. My absolute favorite in this grouping is the black staircase against the white walls and banister. Soooo pretty!

& then there are the beautifully stenciled & wallpaper covered staircases. In the past I haven’t been a fan of carpeting on the stairs…but seeing the colorful rainbow & zebra print rugs have changed my mind! (more…)
