4 Pretty Things

chair, pillow, Restoration Hardware Monastery Dining Table, tray

Good Friday Morning! Today I’ve chosen 4 pieces that I’d love for my own dining room. Actually, I already have the dining table & included it for 2 reasons:

1. because I do LOVE it, & wanted to share how pretty it is.
2. I’ve had several questions about it…

It is the Restoration Hardware 17th C. Monastery Dining Table. I have the 76 inch which seats 6. This is the only one that would fit in my dining room. see it HERE. I’d love to have a bigger dining room that would fit the 120 inch table. It would be soooo beautiful for dinner parties.

I am pretty much obsessed with these bright pink chairs as end chairs. They’d also easily fit in my living room. The black pillows would tie in nice with my black louis chairs. The gold/white chevron tray is AMAZING, don’t you think. I’d love it on my sideboard.

P.S the background is free iPhone wallpaper by! Isn’t it gorgeous?

Turquoise Interior Design

I recently discovered Turquoise Interior Design by Vanessa De Vargas & was so inspired! I absolutely LOVE the way she accessorizes- especially her lamp and console table choices. Her projects are really fun to look through. If I had to pick a favorite it would be Sherman Oaks 4. Check it out!

We Should Make our Own Dream Homes

We all have pictures in our mind of our dream home large or small, inner-city or in a wilderness far away from all signs of humanity. Yet we’re stuck here and it comes to a point where we need to stop dreaming and make our current homes into dreams for others.

The goal is simple: be proud of your home and love it!

There are so many techniques to dress-up your home to make it sumptuous for you and anyone else you may drag home. Make your entrance way pop! It’s the first impression everyone gets of your home and why not make it stand-out like no other? This is the beginning of the WOW effect! You can still do this in small areas by accenting a wall or adding an oddly unique piece of furniture.

Take something out of the ordinary and put it into the classically ordinary! One of my favorite examples tends to be nightstands. They’re full of utility yet they’re rarely talked about for accenting the room. A clever reinvention is using an old kick drum on its side. They’re big yes but if you have the space use it.

Wallpaper is on the rise again. Don’t stick with pastel colors on your walls, go after texture. Wallpapers add so much depth to rooms big and small and are accented pleasantly by solid curtains and matching rugs. The choices are infinite now with computer graphic software changing home decor like never before.

So remember, we can dream for an eternity or we can try and make our dreams blossom into our own little paradises tucked away in a small corner of the earth.

Amanda Peet’s LA Home

Amanda Peet’s home just completely warmed my heart. It feels so cozy, kids friendly, & beautiful. Gosh, I’d love to live there. I absolutely LOVE that vintage PINK rug in her entryway- sitting on those deep chocolate hardwood floors!

Ranch Home

What does your DREAM HOUSE look like? My taste has changed over the years and I do not dream of owning a HUGE house anymore. For now I dream of an affordable ranch home with dark hardwood floors and a dining room large enough to host a dinner party of at least 10. Open rooms are important- especially the kitchen. I’d love to have a pool in my backyard- one that is not too large & would be easy to maintain.

I found this home on and it seems just about right to me. If it had 1 more bedroom to use as an office it would be pretty perfect!

Apartment Staging

Staging has become such an important part of selling a home. I guess most people cannot see through crap & clutter, & they don’t want to have to visualize what “could be!” Here is a beautiful (& SMALL) NYC apartment that has been staged so beautifully! Seriously gorgeous. I love that they used a HUGE dining room table- room to seat 10! It really shows the length of the room. & those caribbean blue chairs in the living room are just stunning!
