Weekend Retreat

When you think about a weekend retreat do you think of the city or the country?

This is my idea of a weekend house…a large open space overlooking a beautiful landscape. This 1,900 sq foot home is located in central Chile, with stunning views of the lake and the woods.

Lake House

I just spent about 30 minutes checking out Tracery Interiors- their design work is just fabulous! This was my favorite house in the portfolio. It is a lake house located in Alabama. I love that it has a rustic look, yet has so many modern touches…

Aren’t those silver chairs in the photo above just gorgeous? I wonder if you could get a similar look using silver metallic spray paint?

Outdoor Spaces

Hillside Retreat

Southern NJ is not great place for outdoor living, but I still dream of having a beautiful outdoor space. We currently have a 10 year old townhouse with a small deck. Once the summer heat ends, we can hopefully start enjoying dinner & drinks outdoors (without having to worry about sunblock and bug spray!)

I am pretty unoriginal when it comes to painting furniture, but I love the fact that a little sanding paper and a can of paint can give new life to something that you were going to place on the curb.

What do you think of these kitchen chairs? Would you paint your old kitchen table chairs a fun color?

I love this last idea:

Mix and match different style chairs and then paint them the same color to give them a cohesive look.

The Selby – Auckland, NZ

I love the homes on The Selby because they are always so personal. They don’t look staged, are often cluttered and messy, yet still offer a lot of decor inspiration. This home in Auckland is one of my favorites in awhile!

I noticed white wall shelves in almost every room… i love the way they inexpensively organize all of the interesting collections of “stuff.” I am also really impressed by the red kitchen chairs. They even used one as a bedroom side table. LOVE that idea!

I was checking out apartments in Paris. (for no reason other than I just felt like it!) I dream of a little apartment with high ceilings, intricate molding, floor to ceiling windows, and the character that you will just not find here in the USA! By the way, for the small sum of $2,714,409 USD you can own this spacious 1 bedroom (1540 sq ft) apt.
